MatchUp: My First ABC

MatchUp™ My First ABC introduces young children to the building blocks of reading through playful phonetic matching. Instead of simply memorizing the alphabet, children are encouraged to “sound it out” by pairing high-quality, soft felt letters with familiar objects that begin with the same sound. By connecting A to Apple or S to Sun, children move beyond rote learning to build strong phonemic awareness—the essential foundation for reading and spelling. This hands-on approach supports early literacy while making learning intuitive, engaging, and confidence-building.

How to Play?

Playing is simple and fun, making it easy for young explorers to jump right in.

1. Lay Out the Pieces - Place the felt alphabet letters and picture tiles face up on a flat surface.
2. Pick A Letter- Ask your child to choose a letter and say its sound out loud (e.g, “A – ah”).
3. Find the Matching Sound -  Encourage your child to look for the picture that begins with the same sound, (e.g the /sss/ sound.) Watch the lightbulb go off as they grab the Sun!
4. Make The Match: Encourage your child to physically press the felt letter and with matching the object together. This tactile-kinesthetic learning helps "lock in" the connection between the shape of the letter and the sound it makes.
5. Say it Together Repeat the sound and word slowly to reinforce phonemic awareness and confidence.
